History Day

National History Day is an inter-disciplinary research opportunity that sophomores in U.S. History and juniors in World History participate in over the course of about four months of the school year. Students' work is celebrated at an annual school event, and then may be entered into regional, state, and national levels of competition.

History Day teaches students to:
- Choose a historically-relevant topic
- Utilize college-level historical skills
- Mold their topic to an annual theme

- Research deeply, become an expert
- Visit c0llege libraries for resources
- Analyze topic's historical significance
- Hone argumentation/thesis-writing
-  Use primary and secondary sources
- Present findings in one of five formats
- Compete in local, regional, state levels
- Interact with students across the state
